Korça is mentioned even in 15th century, when it was established and
developed as an artisan and trading center. While in the second half of
the 19th century it became one of the biggest economic, commercial and
cultural center of the Albania.
Nowadays, Korça is one of the most cute and tidy cities in Albania. The most outstanding constructions in the city are the magnificent "Catnedral" (the biggest in Albania) and especially the quarters between Shen Gjergji and Republika Boulevards, which preserves typical streets and lanes with cobble stones. In the center of the city there stands the monument of "Albanian Fighter" while in western part there is traditional bazaar and also many bars, tavernas, restaurants and hotels.
